Effective Supervisor Synthesis for Automated Manufacturing Systems Based on Finite State Automata

Abstract
This paper proposes a novel supervisor for automated manufacturing systems (AMSs) using finite state automata (FSA). The synthesis method is useful for obtaining a legal supervisor, but the transitional method cannot prevent state explosion. Therefore, this paper uses a new synthesis policy to significantly reduce the number of illegal states. The proposed method effectively controls the inherent problem of exponential numbers of states by using the conventional method. In addition, a real world AMS is introduced to significantly improve performance efficiency.
